The consumption of inappropriate or unusual food items, such as spoiled food, garbage, table scraps, or toxic plants. Sudden changes in diet can also lead to diarrhoea.
Parasites like roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, or giardia can infect pets and cause diarrhoea. These parasites are usually acquired from contaminated food, water, soil, or contact with infected animals.
Infections caused by bacteria (e.g., Salmonella, Campylobacter) or viruses (e.g., parvovirus, distemper) can result in diarrhoea. These infections often present with other symptoms like vomiting, fever, and lethargy.
Pets can experience digestive upset, including diarrhoea, due to stress or anxiety. Changes in routine, travel, introduction to new environments, or other stressful events can trigger gastrointestinal disturbances.
